This year marks 20 years since the death of Sir Michael Tippett, a composer who was enormously influenced by Beethoven. The Beethoven Piano Society is putting on a Beethoven-Tippett Festival in August, when four pianists will play the four Sonatas of Tippett alongside works by Beethoven.
On Sunday July 8 at City Lit London, we are organising a Tippett Day, with talks and discussions in the morning and in the afternoon a masterclass by the distinguished pianist and teacher, and former Head of Keyboard Studies at the Royal College of Music, Andrew Ball.
Pianists may offer either the complete 2nd Sonata or any one or more movements of Sonatas 1, 3 or 4. Voice and piano duos may offer extracts from any significant repertoire, eg. Boyhood’s End, The Heart’s Assurance, Songs for Dov.
The fee for the masterclass is £40 (£30 for BPSE/EPTA/ISM members), £60 for a duo.
To apply, please complete and submit the form below. Successful applicants will be contacted by June 8.
