2016 Beethoven Senior Intercollegiate Piano Competition
This year’s Beethoven Senior Intercollegiate Piano Competition will take place on Sunday 27 November 2016, 12pm at the Birmingham Conservatoire

The Competition piano is a Steinway Model D Concert Grand.
1) TWO compulsory bagatelles Op. 119 No.9 & 10 WITH REPEATS
2) Any complete Beethoven piano sonata (excluding Op.49, Nos.1 & 2 & Op.106 “Hammerklavier”). As an alternative to a sonata, pianists may perform Variations and Fugue in Eb Major Op.35, “Eroica” Variations.
1. First movement repeats in sonata form should NOT be observed.
2. Normal repeats in slow movements, Scherzos, Minuet and trios, and Variations SHOULD be observed.
Each competitor will have 15 minutes to warm up at the competition piano. Individual time slots will be allocated, starting at 10am. There are two other warm up rooms available throughout the day.
The whole competition is expected to finish by 6pm, including prize announcements.
Prizes include London recitals at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Regent Hall, and St Barnabas Millennium Hall, and a concerto performance with Kew Sinfonia.
Prizewinners will also receive a year’s complimentary membership of the Society (until 31st March 2018).
