“In support of the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe, I undertook the challenge of cycling the full route of the men’s Tour de France, raising funds and awareness for the Society’s mission to support talented young pianists alongside promoting education for Beethoven’s music. I came to sport whilst dealing with serious health issues over the years to help with my symptoms and as a musician the significance and impact of Beethoven’s music and life inspired a fight that I wanted to overcome to achieve my dream of becoming a pianist. Completing one of the world’s most demanding sporting events required significant dedication, resilience, and discipline and I was thrilled to raise over £2500 in support of the BPSE with my event which I coined the term ‘Tour de Beethoven’.

The fundraising efforts continue over the next year in support of the BPSE. I have entered Ironman Wales and Ironman Bolton 70.3 to support the society and help raise funds to continue the work they do.”—Amanda Scott
